Highlights
122 Leadenhall - The Cheesegrater

The 75,000 square metres façade features a curtain wall that is double glazed to allow for a high solar protection on neutral-looking glass.

Fruit and Wool Exchange

The new-build façades are predominately brick-faced, with punched windows to reflect the surrounding context.

Caudwell International

Curved glass, punch windows and precast stone panels make up the envelope on a figure-of-eight footprint.

Guardian Bird1st™

Guardian Bird1st™ helps to prevent birds from colliding with buildings – by featuring striking and highly visible patterns to birds, while remaining discreet to humans.

Counteracting collisions, preserving views

Guardian Bird1st uses Saflex™ FlySafe™ 3D PVB interlayer which incorporates 3D sequins that catch the light to produce subtle twinkles that help deter birds from glass. The sequins are discreet and optimally placed to help warn birds while limiting views’ disturbance on the outside. The grid pattern consists of rows and columns of 3D sequins that are 9 mm (0.35 in.) in diameter, separated on all sides by 90 mm (3.5 in.).

Tested to be bird-friendly

The Saflex™ Flysafe™ reflective technology has been tested* using fly tunnels by the Collision Laboratories in Hohenau-Ringelsdorf, Austria, and qualified as “highly effective” in mitigating bird collisions with coatings of up to 19% of external reflection. Based on the Austrian Collision Laboratories’ tests results, the American Bird Conservancy has added the technology on its list of bird friendly solutions.

The use of Guardian Bird1st may meet LEED® Innovation credit for Bird Collision Deterrence (BD+C: New Construction, v4.1).

Performance and design flexibility

Guardian Bird1st provides the safety and security features of a standard laminated glass and can be available in an acoustic version for added sound reduction benefits. It can be combined with all coatings of the Guardian SunGuard® High-Selective (SNX) and SuperNeutral™ (SN) ranges to provide solar control and thermal insulation properties to the glazing.

Performance and design flexibility

Durable choice

Because the visual contrasting sequins are embedded in a laminated glass, they are protected from the elements and cleaning tools and fluids, requiring only normal laminated glass cleaning and maintenance.
