What's your challenge?
Design with glass

From anti-reflection to color tints, modern glass enhances design in many ways.

Build with glass

Whatever the construction challenge, we have the glass to help meet it.

Highlights
122 Leadenhall - The Cheesegrater

The 75,000 square metres façade features a curtain wall that is double glazed to allow for a high solar protection on neutral-looking glass.

Fruit and Wool Exchange

The new-build façades are predominately brick-faced, with punched windows to reflect the surrounding context.

Caudwell International

Curved glass, punch windows and precast stone panels make up the envelope on a figure-of-eight footprint.

Our commitment to glass innovation

Our commitment to glass innovation

Glass is an incredible material, with unique attributes that make it essential in structures and designs across the world. Guardian Glass is committed to advancing glass technology and exploring every application possible. Not only to enhance our well-being with light and space, but to conserve energy, regulate temperatures, protect privacy, preserve history and help us see the world more clearly and naturally. This has come about due to our continued investment in glass research and development.

A center for new ideas

At the heart of our innovation program is the Guardian Glass Science & Technology Center (STC). Here some of the finest minds in material science and engineering work tirelessly to uncover the possibilities of glass. Whether new coatings, processes, formulas or technologies, our team is dedicated to fulfilling the world’s ever-growing ambitions for glass. The STC even houses a full-size vacuum coater to accelerate new product design and development.

Advancing glass technology

Huge advancements are
measured in nanometers

Since 1983, Guardian Glass scientists have developed glass coatings using highly advanced Magnetron Sputter Coating technology. This involves calculating the combination of atoms in the coating to optimize the performance and aesthetics of glass. This all depends on what color, insulation level, light transmission and other properties are required. The atoms are invisible of course but the coatings they form have a substantial effect on the glass, and the buildings and other projects they are applied to.

Breakthroughs but also game changers

We know any breakthrough in the laboratory is only a success when it advances how the world uses glass. Our team of scientists and engineers are also expert in applying new formulas to new glass products which we can then manufacture around the world. We also focus on achieving more with fewer resources, constantly investigating how to further improve the efficiencies of our processes and our glass – to benefit our customers and the world at large.

The possibilities are endless

Glass offers so much to the world, now and in the future, and we never stop thinking of new and better ways it can be utilised. We also draw inspiration from other sectors and design thinking to re-envision how this wonder material can help us work, learn and live more fully and sustainably. We see no limit to what glass can bring. Which is why more than ever, our innovation program exemplifies what we do as a company – we See what’s possible™.
