A corporate commitment
to the environment

Guardian Glass is committed to the efficient use of natural resources while operating in a way that protects the safety, health and well-being of its employees, customers, the environment and society.

As a manufacturing leader of high performance, energy-efficient glass products for commercial, residential, interior, transportation, solar and specialty applications, Guardian Glass makes products that help improve people’s lives. By allowing abundant natural light into homes, offices and vehicles, glass products can help contribute to occupants’ well-being.

Guardian EPDs

An Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) is a verified and registered document that communicates transparent  information about the life-cycle environmental impact of a product.

Guardian EPDs are developed specific to the region where the glass is manufactured. By publishing EPDs, Guardian supports architects and designers who strive to understand the environmental impact of the buildings they design through the products they specify. The goal is to provide them with the information needed to calculate their buildings whole life carbon (WLC) emissions and achieve credits in global building rating systems, such as LEED® and BREEAM®. Six EPDs are available from Guardian Glass Europe. For certifications and declarations for Guardian Glass products manufactured in North America, Latin America or AMEI (Africa, Middle East, India) regions, please refer to that region’s webpage.

Flat glass products EPDs

Two EPDs are available for the various flat glass products produced in Europe. The products covered by these EPDs are Guardian ExtraClear™ (mid-iron) standard float glass and Guardian UltraClear™ low-iron glass.

Processed glass products EPDs

The Guardian Processed Glass Products EPDs are valid for sputter-coated and laminated glass products produced in Europe. The products covered by these EPDs include Guardian SunGuard™ architectural glass, ClimaGuard™ residential glass, Guardian LamiGlass™, and other applications. The EPDs contain a complete listing of all products covered.

Lower carbon glass products EPDs

Two EPDs are available for the various lower carbon glass products produced in Europe. The products covered by these EPDs are Guardian NEXA™ 6 and Guardian NEXA 9 (flat, sputter coated, and laminated glass).

For calculations based on our regional float glass production values, please refer to the embodied carbon calculation feature in the Performance Calculator.
