How and where glass is used
How glass is made and what it offers
The 75,000 square metres façade features a curtain wall that is double glazed to allow for a high solar protection on neutral-looking glass.
The new-build façades are predominately brick-faced, with punched windows to reflect the surrounding context.
Curved glass, punch windows and precast stone panels make up the envelope on a figure-of-eight footprint.

The old town hall of Woerden was in poor condition. The renovation by Architectenbureau Cepezed B.V. was focused on modernization and energy efficiency, resulting in a light, spacious building with an A+++ energy rating. Openness, spatial experience and connection are core themes of the project. Large glass sections in the new facades provide a strong connection with nature and the surroundings.
Guardian SunGuard® eXtra Selective (SNX) 60 was chosen for the glazed façade. This triple silver coated solar control glass offers color consistency and low internal reflections. SNX 60 has a highly desirable, neutral and transparent appearance – regardless of the viewing angle. Internal colored reflection is optimized, adding a neutral tone to the glass when viewed from the inside of the building. Due to its world-class selectivity, SNX 60 lets in 60% of natural daylight combined with excellent solar control. This helps to reduce energy needs due to a lower demand for artificial lighting and air conditioning.
