Description of the project

Located in the heart of Manchester, The Gem is a unique-looking, diamond-shaped café lounge with co-working spaces, communal leisure areas and private meeting rooms. Designed by Architects 3DReid, the redesigned first floor of the building is set to become Platinum Standard WELL certified, an international building standard that recognises health in the built environment with a holistic approach. It will be one of the first co-working spaces in Europe to achieve this accreditation.

The faceted glass structure of The Gem acts as a reflective surface and uses a combination of glass, stainless steel and oak veneer, which encourages an abundance of natural light into the interior spaces.

The glass chosen for the building façade is Guardian ClimaGuard® Premium2 coated glass – carefully selected to provide the optimum combination of attributes. The glass allows plenty of natural daylight into the interior spaces, helping to reduce the need for artificial lighting, while offering good thermal insulation properties all year round.
