From anti-reflection to color tints, modern glass enhances design in many ways.
Whatever the construction challenge, we have the glass to help meet it.
See how the correct choice of glass can help transform a home – and even our wellbeing.
What modern glass can do
How and where glass is used
How glass is made and what it offers
The 75,000 square metres façade features a curtain wall that is double glazed to allow for a high solar protection on neutral-looking glass.
The new-build façades are predominately brick-faced, with punched windows to reflect the surrounding context.
Curved glass, punch windows and precast stone panels make up the envelope on a figure-of-eight footprint.

The refurbishment of the Faculties of Architecture and Civil Engineering buildings at the University of Innsbruck externalises the differences between the disciplines and the characteristics of the teaching approaches. While the engineering tower offers a precise, identical yet flexible set of spaces for around 30 separate institutes, the architecture building – in which only five institutes are located – is a hybrid: an open plan building that looks like a laboratory cube. This open construction allows the glass façade to become a display and learning object, which the students themselves can further develop with their own work.
The design team from ATP sphere and ATP Architects and Engineers, Innsbruck wanted to create space for students to come together in the form of a central shared circulation area and central atrium (amphitheatre).
Guardian SunGuard® Solar Light Blue 52 coated glass plays a crucial role in helping to reduce both the glare from the sun and the demands on the building’s air conditioning, as well as helping to improve control of temperatures inside the building. The inner pane of the glazing is coated with Guardian ClimaGuard® 1.0, which further enhances the façade’s thermal insulation during colder months.
