The Wilson School of Design at Kwantlen Polytechnic University aims to be the preferred school for technical apparel design – a thriving industry in this region of British Columbia, Canada. University students here are also developing talent and credentials in interiors, fashion, product design and more.
For an institution that thinks deeply about apparel, the way the building is clad carries special importance. A timber structure inspired by 19th century warehouses in the area is artfully wrapped in glass curtain wall that serves up a sophisticated look and performance. Complete with operable windows and great spans of glass, this building blends SunGuard® SN 54 and SunGuard® SN 68 that provide a neutral look and abundant natural light, as well as SunGuard® SNR 43 and SunGuard® Silver 20, which reduce unwanted solar heat gain while also providing an attractive reflectivity. The result is an open, airy space that encourages students to imagine and innovate – and a building on track to achieve LEED certification.
