Student Union Building – Simon Fraser University

With the creation of its new Student Union Building (SUB), Simon Fraser University envisioned and brought to life a transformative addition to its Burnaby Mountain campus. Designed as a “home away from home,” the SUB serves as a welcoming haven for students and addresses a shortage of space for non-academic activities. To honor Arthur Erickson’s iconic campus, the design integrates a stepped form, harmonious materials and a rhythmic façade while infusing a contemporary, light-filled aesthetic. The SUB supports student wellbeing with the help of SunGuard SN 68 and SN 54 on clear glass, bringing in an abundance of light and views, connecting students to outdoor spaces. The SUB is targeting LEED® Gold certification.
