Description of the project

Located on a marina in Busan, the Park Hyatt hotel is a 33-storey tower building designed by Pritzker-prize winner Daniel Libeskind. The tower is situated near to the convention center and beach, overlooking the Gwangan Bridge, yacht marina and the ocean.

The exterior design of the building is inspired by water, with a curved glazed façade that resembles the wind-filled sails of a ship. The curved geometry serves a sustainability strategy that harvests and modulates natural light, with guest rooms that take full advantage of the floor-to-ceiling windows.

Guardian SunGuard High Performance (HP) Neutral Plus 50 was chosen for the glazed façade. This low-emissivity, high performance glass helps to minimize solar energy gain, maximize natural daylight into interior spaces, and reduce the need for artificial lighting. The glass has an attractive neutral gray appearance and offers optimal clarity.
