Naruvi Hospitals is a world-class establishment that offers the latest in medical technology, the best equipment for quick and accurate diagnosis, and the skills and technology to provide treatment that is among the best in the world. The Naruvi Group takes pride in the veteran doctors who head each of the clinical medicine and laboratory medicine departments. They bring priceless experience, immaculate values and a great legacy with them.

Naruvi Hospitals presents a situation wherein the building envelope design demands the need for using the right performance glass that provides occupant comfort in terms of daylighting and thermal insulation.

Guardian SunGuard® products becomes imperative for hospitals to choose a façade design that is healing in nature and enables the patients to connect with natural light. With Vellore’s warm and humid climate and its temperature ranging from 37.4o C to 17o C,  SunGuard DS Neutral 40 helps to achieve excellent solar protection with perfect thermal insulation while minimising the need for artificial light.

With natural light coming in and low internal reflections, Guardian SunGuard glass ensures a better visual connect with the outside landscape. Moreover, studies show that aptly glazed glass can have positive effects on patients’ well-being. Guardian SunGuard glass reduces recovery time and medication use and relieves stress and depression too. Guardian SunGuard glass also improves staff’s well-being and increases their productivity, resulting in reduced staff absenteeism.

To ensure occupant comfort, it became necessary to manage the temperature inside the building. It was done with the help of Guardian®️ SunGuard®️ DS Neutral 40’s Low-e coated glass which was used in DGU with an optimum air cavity of 12mm that reduced 77% of direct and indirect solar heat gain inside the building. This helped in reducing the cooling load requirement and its HVAC investment cost.

Guardian SunGuard DS Neutral 40 which is greyish in colour was picked to deliver the required aesthetic appeal as desired by the client, its lower SHGC (0.23) and lower U-Value (1.64) resulted in reduced direct and indirect solar heat transmission, respectively. Its lower Internal reflection (13%) adds to the occupant comfort in the interior spaces.

Sustainable facades provide a better indoor environment with natural aesthetics, which helps in the healing process of patients. Also, a passive solar building design leads the way for sustainable facades.
