Stewardship Training Series

United States

At Guardian, our Vision is to help people improve their lives by providing the products and services they value more highly than their alternatives. We do this responsibly, while consuming fewer resources; seeking mutually beneficial outcomes with customers, employees, suppliers, communities and other key constituencies.

Our Stewardship Framework flows directly from this Vision, describing our commitment and priorities around Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) topics. Stewardship is not new to Guardian. It is a core part of our company’s management framework, Principle Based Management, and culture.

Join us to discover the meaning of Stewardship and its impact on the flat glass industry and beyond. Our series of training modules will guide you through how we think about Stewardship--the principle and the applications at our company. Don't miss out - the first two modules are ready and waiting for you!

Module #1: Introduction to Stewardship

In this first module, you will learn:

  • Why we use the term Stewardship instead of sustainability
  • What is Stewardship and Product Stewardship
  • Examples of focus areas under each pillar of Stewardship, such as energy efficiency, health and safety, and compliance and ethics.

Module #2: Introduction to Life Cycle Assessments

In this second module, we delve further into Stewardship - namely, a key component in our environmental work - the life cycle of float glass and how it’s used to assess a product’s environmental attributes. You will learn:

  • What is a life cycle assessment and why it is important for the float glass industry
  • What are the main stages of a life cycle assessment and the associated standards
  • How the results of a life cycle assessment are communicated – through an environmental product declaration (EPD) – and used in the building industry

Kate Krezowski, ESG Stewardship Manager: “While many people talk about sustainability, there is no universal definition of it today. It can mean different things to different people, depending on their socioeconomic background and culture. At Guardian Glass, we focus on Stewardship, which covers more than the environmental themes and what it means for our culture. We hope this training series will help you understand Stewardship and how, by focusing on bottom-up solutions rather than top-down imperatives, it can help create value while consuming fewer resources.”
