Guardian Glass is the first float glass manufacturer to achieve UL Product Lens™ Certification, covering three global product categories: Uncoated Float Glass, Sputter (Vacuum) Coated Float glass (including Commercial SunGuard® and residential ClimaGuard® products) and UltraMirror™ products.
UL’s Product Lens program was developed to address the needs of architects and designers seeking greater material transparency throughout the building product lifecycle. Guardian is excited to offer our customers third party certified data for our glass products based on an established assessment methodology scheme to help them meet the strict requirements of green building program requirements such as LEED v4.1. The Product Lens™ Certification for Guardian Glass products will enable customers to make informed decisions based on credible information that is transparent and easy to understand
“The Guardian Africa, Middle East and India teams had previously collaborated with UL to achieve Product Lens™ Certification for glass products manufactured in those regions,” explains Coleen Dykstra, Guardian Glass Global Product Stewardship Manager. “Utilizing our Market-Based Management® Framework, a global team was able to leverage that work along with the Cradle-to-Cradle certifications achieved by the European region to substantiate the expansion of those certifications to create the UL Product Lens™ reports covering these three global product categories.
Guardian chose this third-party, verified program because UL’s Product Lens Certification adds context and clarity by offering greater transparency throughout the product lifecycle. The addition of the Product Lens Certifications to our global portfolio of sustainability tools including product specific Environmental Product Declarations (EPD) and our award-winning Sustainability Calculator further enhances Guardian’s commitment to being a preferred partner to fully support our customers in their pursuit to design and construct of innovative green certified buildings by providing accurate information in readily available formats.
