Local sourcing of raw materials

Glass Placeholder

Where feasible, we strive to source the raw materials for our float batch at a regional level (mainly sand, soda ash, dolomite, limestone, salt cake and cullet).

North America

Over the last year we have partnered with KBX Logistics to further optimize our transport routes. For example, at our plant in Richburg, SC, we've transitioned the transportation of approximately 900 short tons of limestone from truck to rail. And at our plant in Carleton, MI, we've installed more rail capacity to allow us to accommodate more rail shipments from suppliers.

Asia Pacific

Through the collaboration of Guardian strategic sourcing and procurement teams and local suppliers, our site in Nong Khae, Thailand, has onboarded new suppliers for raw materials such as soda ash, creating mutually beneficial relationships that have shortened material transit times and distances, as well as associated transportation emissions.
