Description of the project

Designed by KSP Jürgen Engel Architekten, the SAP headquarters building is an 11-storey, twin-block high-rise located on the edge of the Eschborn Süd office district in Frankfurt. With a mix of conventional office space, creative thinking spaces and areas that can be used flexibly as workstations for ‘occasional’ staff, the building can accommodate up to 500 employees. Sustainability is a key factor in the building’s design, which enabled it to achieve a Gold LEED certification rating.

An important part of the sustainable design is the fully glazed double skin façade. For this, the architect chose Guardian SunGuard® High Durable (HD) Diamond 66, a coated solar control glass that provides superior mechanical and chemical durability, as well as enhanced aesthetics and performance compared to traditional pyrolytic glass, including higher transparency and colour neutrality. The glass is also easy to process and provides all the optical clarity and energy performance traditionally associated with sputtered coatings.

The large, staggered box-type windows on the façade, as well as the glazing itself, help to ensure that plenty of natural daylight enters the building, enhancing the comfort and wellbeing of occupants.
