Designed by renowned architect Ieoh Ming Pei, MUDAM is Luxembourg’s most important museum dedicated to modern art. Located in front of the Fort Thungen vestiges, the building follows the course of the ancient surrounding walls, which offer magnificent views of the old town.
The access to the museum is through two bridges that cross the dry pit and converge to the arrowhead reflecting the shape of the museum.
Inside the building, the extraordinary 33-meter-tall Great Hall is a glass structure with a metal frame from which protrudes a square-topped turret and bell. It represents the center of the museum, from which visitors can access the rest of the spaces. To the right there is a second equally impressive glass structure. Responding to the contour of the Great Hall emerging from the original design of the ancient foundations, I.M. Pei has designed a curved and rounded glass structure, using Guardian SunGuard® SuperNeutral SN 63/32 solar control glass.
