Description of the project

Designed by Dominique Perrault, Tower 1 of the Donau City (DC) Towers project is a prominent building across the Vienna skyline and is the highest skyscraper in Austria. The DC Project will be three towers in total, two of which are still under construction.

The 250-metre-high Tower 1 is a new urban multi-use building that includes offices, a hotel, apartments, a fitness centre, a sky bar and restaurants. The building combines stunning aesthetics with an advanced energy-efficient design and functionality. The skyscraper is one of the first Austrian office towers that is built and equipped in accordance with the energy and sustainability requirements for ‘green buildings’ issued by the European Commission.

In each office, openings allow for fresh air. Guardian SunGuard® SuperNeutral (SN) 51/28 coated solar control glass was chosen for the beautiful unitized façade system. The multi-functional coated glass provides high natural light transmission (51%) and exceptional solar protection, while helping to save energy. The coating minimises the need for artificial light, and combined with its outstanding thermal insulation, helps keep the building’s occupants comfortable.
