GUARDIAN ANNOUNCES NATIONWIDE AVAILABILITY OF SHOWERGUARD AT INTERNATIONAL BUILDERS’ SHOW

Unique sealed glass surface resists corrosion, maintains beauty in shower enclosures

ORLANDO, Fla., – (February 7, 2007) – Guardian Industries Corp. announced today at the 2007 International Builders’ Show that its newest glass innovation, ShowerGuard™, the first and only permanently protected shower glass, is now available at more than 300 dealers across the country. Since officially unveiling ShowerGuard to the industry last year at IBS, Guardian also launched www.showerguardglass.com, an informational site where consumers can find a retailer in their area. The company is selling the product through custom glass shops where homeowners go for high-end glass shower enclosures.

Designed for residential and commercial use in shower and bath enclosures, ShowerGuard glass is easier to clean than standard glass and maintains its original appearance. The surface of ShowerGuard is sealed through a patented ion beam process during the manufacture of the glass.

ShowerGuard glass resists the corrosion and discoloration caused over time by constant exposure to hard water, soaps and harsh household cleaners. These contaminants cause a chemical reaction that leaves standard glass rough and pitted so that it becomes easily clouded with residue, stain and scale buildup.

“We developed ShowerGuard glass in response to overwhelming consumer interest in an easy-to-clean shower glass that stays clear and beautiful over time,” said Patricia Kennedy, marketing director of Guardian’s interior products. “What many people don’t realize is that standard glass is porous, so basic, everyday use can lead to a shower that is almost impossible to clean.”

Guardian also announced that ShowerGuard will be available on UltraWhite glass in April 2007. Made with reduced iron content, UltraWhite provides a perfectly clear appearance, even on the edges where standard glass shows a greenish tint. This product line extension is in response to the demand for thicker glass on high-end shower enclosures.

ShowerGuard glass is demonstrably more durable than other forms of glass protection. Over time, spray-on or wipe-on treatments will wear off and cease to protect the glass. They can require specialty maintenance products, as well as continual reapplication. ShowerGuard never needs to be reapplied and is backed by a 10-year limited warranty. ShowerGuard glass can be maintained with a soft cloth or wet sponge and most common household cleaners.
