Guardian Glass Mexico receives “Sello Estatal de Bajas Emisiones de Carbono” presented by SEDESU

El Marqués, Mexico | October 17, 2023

The Guardian Glass Mexico El Marqués facility received the “Sello Estatal de Bajas Emisiones de Carbono” certification on October 17, 2023, an initiative of the SEDESU which promotes the aspirational goal to decarbonize the economy.

The event was formed by a panel of authorities, headed by Marco Antonio Salvador Del Prete Tercero, Secretary of Sustainable Development. He was joined by Ricardo Javier Torres Hernandez, Undersecretary of the Environment of the Secretariat of Sustainable Development, and Paloma Arce Islas, Delegate of SEMARNAT in Queretaro.

Rafael Latini, Manager of the Guardian Glass El Marqués facility, opened the event with a speech highlighting the rich, 20-year Guardian Glass history in Mexico, emphasizing the company vision to be the preferred global supplier of architectural glass solutions. He also spoke about Guardian Glass' commitment to the state of Querétaro, and to helping people improve their lives through innovative products.

"From the first day we opened our doors, we have worked tirelessly to contribute to the well-being of this community. We reinforced our commitment with the reinvestment in the reconstruction of our furnace and by leveraging new technologies in our processes. We are also supporting initiatives such as “Enseña por México” (Teach for Mexico) for the education of young people in the municipality of El Marqués." - Rafael Latini

During the speech, Latini explained how the vision of Guardian’s responsible management framework aligns with the objective of the “Sello Estatal de Bajas Emisiones de Carbono” of the State of Queretaro. Guardian seeks to provide our customers with products and services in a responsible way, while consuming fewer resources.

To conclude his speech, Mr. Latini thanked the entire Guardian team who have been a part of this process and confirmed that the Government of Queretaro is working closely with companies to find the best path forward, to ensure competitiveness can be maintained in the state.
