Description of the project

Designed by A&A Architects and WKK Architects, the Capital Fort office building in Sofia is one of the tallest buildings in Bulgaria. At 126 m high and with 36,000 square meters of façades, the project comprises of a tower, as well as two low-rise buildings.  The attention to energy performance and the selection of triple glazing resulted in a custom-designed modular façade system. The tower has a unitized façade with vertical standard modules fixed to reinforced concrete slabs by aluminum fixing devices. The modules are a combination of transparent and opaque parts. The low-rise building and Podium have a unitized façade system for a smooth transition between the two buildings. The triple insulated glass units of all the building facades are made of:

The triple glazing still provides a good level of natural light transmission, while providing high solar protection and excellent thermal insulation properties.
