Guardian Glass publishes new Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) for its glass portfolio

The document reinforces the company's commitment to measuring and reducing the environmental impact of its products and services, and reporting them transparently.

Campinas, Brazil | September 30, 2024

Guardian Glass has published new Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) for its portfolio of processed and unprocessed flat glass produced in Brazil. These declarations reinforce the company's commitment to measuring and reducing the environmental impact of its products and services, as well as reporting these impacts transparently.

The declaration includes products from the float glass line (colored, clear, and high visible light transmission compared to the Guardian standard clear glass), solar control coated glass (Guardian SunGuard™ architectural glass and Guardian ClimaGuard™ residential glass), and painted and wet-coated glass.

Simultaneously, Guardian Glass has launched a new feature in its Performance Calculator, a tool that allows users to calculate the embodied carbon* for selected specifications. This online tool is part of Glass Analytics – advanced software for glass and glazing system analysis – and enables the modeling of the thermal and optical properties of glass substrates and coatings. The new feature provides an estimate of the equivalent embodied carbon for Guardian Brazil's products.

"By publishing the EPDs, Guardian Glass extends its support to architects and other professionals who wish to improve the environmental profile of their projects through the products they specify," says Betânia Danelon, leader of Guardian's technical specifications team in South America. She adds that the goal is to provide the necessary information to help them earn credits in global building assessment systems. "Our technical specification team is ready to provide architects and specifiers with transparent documents and information about the life cycle environmental attributes of our products," she says.
