Earn Innovation Awards

Auburn Hills, Mich. – November 9, 2012 – Architects looking for glass innovations that maximize the efficiency and performance of their commercial building projects need look no further than Guardian Industries’ SunGuard EC and SunGuard PVGU, both honored with Product Innovation Awards (PIAs) from Architectural Products Magazine.

SunGuard EC and SunGuard PVGU are Guardian’s newest advanced technology glazings that help achieve net zero buildings. They were selected in the Building Envelope category.

Guardian SunGuard EC utilizes Soladigm electrochromic technology to transition from clear to tinted on demand, controlling heat and glare in buildings, while providing greater comfort and natural daylight. SunGuard EC enables changes in visible light transmittance and solar heat gain to significantly reduce heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) energy usage in commercial buildings, particularly during peak load times.

SunGuard PVGU combines Pythagoras Solar photovoltaic technology with SunGuard advanced architectural glass to create the world’s first energy-generating window simultaneously offering energy efficiency, power generation and high transparency. This advanced building integrated photovoltaic (BIPV) solution replaces standard vision glass or skylights with a transparent glass product that converts direct sunlight into energy, helping architects and building owners looking for solutions to achieve net zero buildings.

These products enable designers to use more glass while still meeting or exceeding building energy codes and improving occupant comfort.
