Guardian offers architects more continuing education opportunities through Architectural Record partnership

Auburn Hills, Mich. – December 13, 2011 – Guardian’s roster of continuing education courses on the use, selection and performance of architectural glass has a much broader audience now that the company is partnering with Architectural Record magazine and the rest of McGraw-Hill’s construction publication lineup.

As a sponsor of the Continuing Education Center, Guardian is reaching the more than 20,000 architects and design professionals taking courses each year. In addition to their home at SunGuardGlass.com, the company’s American Institute of Architects approved courses are accessible through all of McGraw-Hill’s construction websites, including archrecord.com, enr.com and greensourcemag.com.

Currently, Guardian features three courses and four co-sponsored programs through the Continuing Education Center:

· Principles of Glass Selection for Facades: From Rendering to Reality
In this newest course, members will see some of the current choices in glass commonly available to architects for building facades, looking at features, attributes, and characteristics of these various choices from both a visual and performance standpoint.

· LEED and High-Performance Glass
Members will review the current LEED® system, including the version 3 updates and the specifics of how glass and glazing selections can contribute to acquiring credit in improved energy performance, material use, indoor environmental quality, innovation, and regional priorities.

· The Evolution of Glass and High Performance Coatings
This course provides the basics of glass and its manufacturing process, discussing types of low-E technologies available in the market and relevant energy terms, while showing multiple projects to discuss current trends in usage, application and important design considerations.

Guardian co-sponsors the following courses:

· Bridging Cost and Care: Global Benchmarks For Healthcare Environments

· Greening the Government: Sustainable Building Solutions for New Public Programs

· Daylight Savings: Window Systems Deliver Light and Reduced Energy Costs

· Upgrading School Facilities: Rebuilding the Nation's Schools for High Performance

Launched in 1997, the center has helped AIA members earn 750,000 learning units. Architectural Record’s promotion in print and online means each Guardian course will get more than one million impressions from professionals needing to complete 18 annual learning unit hours annually. They earn credits by reading designated articles and answering test questions at the end of each course.

“Guardian’s continuing education catalog is just one part of a growing toolset,” said Chris Dolan, Guardian’s director of commercial glass marketing. “Guardian’s Building Energy Calculator and SunGuard mobile app, both launched in 2011, are two more examples of how Guardian gives architects and designers user-friendly resources to understand and specify commercial glass.”
