GUARDIAN UNVEILS CLIMAGUARD® 63/31 RESIDENTIAL LOW-E GLASS, DESIGNED FOR ALL U.S. CLIMATES AND ENERGY TAX CREDIT REQUIREMENTS

Auburn Hills, Mich. (May 26, 2009) – Today Guardian Industries introduced ClimaGuard 63/31, the latest addition to its ClimaGuard line of low-E residential coated glass products. ClimaGuard 63/31 is designed to provide optimal energy efficiency while helping windows qualify for energy tax credits as outlined in the 2009 American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, as well as meet the new 2010 Energy Star standards in all U.S. climate zones.

ClimaGuard 63/31 is a high-performance product that delivers a U-value of 0.24, a solar heat gain coefficient (SHGC) of 0.31 and 63 percent visible light transmission. Its energy efficiency and neutral, crisp appearance make it a perfect low-E choice for climates with either heating or cooling requirements.

“Our customers were asking for a high-performance glazing specifically to meet the new energy standards for residential glass,” said Michael Mooney, residential segment director for Guardian Industries. “In addition to several of Guardian’s other low-E residential glass products, ClimaGuard 63/31 will allow customers to meet those standards without the added cost or hassle of using a triple silver low-E product.”

ClimaGuard 63/31 also enables window manufacturers to meet the 0.30 target for SHGC at the total window level. It will be available from all of Guardian’s North American coating facilities and have a heat-treatable mate for custom-tempered applications.
