Guardian demonstrates commitment to sustainability, improvements in air quality, solar control, and energy efficiency with an array of building products and glass solutions

ORLANDO, Fla., – (FEBRUARY 7, 2007) – At the 2007 International Builders’ Show (IBS), booth #S11021, on February 7-10 in Orlando, Fla., Guardian will give attendees a look at new building and glass product developments that reflect their scientific innovations and commitment to green building. As Guardian enters its 75th year, the company is at the forefront of creating products that improve the performance, value and environmental demands of today’s market.

Guardian Building Products, Inc. (GBP), a subsidiary group of Guardian Industries Corp., has one of the largest building products distribution networks in North America and includes a substantial fiberglass insulation manufacturing operation. As a leader in green building material, GBP has secured the most rigorous certification for its insulation products to insure that they meet stringent requirements for indoor air quality (IAQ) as defined by GREENGUARD’s certification for Children & Schools. GBP is also an Energy Star® Partner and an active member of the United States Green Building Council (LEED). The company’s fiberglass insulation products are composed of up to 50% recycled glass.

At IBS, GBP is the exclusive fiberglass insulation vendor for the Renewed American Home, a showcase home that demonstrates new ideas, universal design, energy efficiency, and technology, as well as an extensive integration of various low-voltage systems. GBP has installed its ATS® and UltraFitDS® insulation systems throughout the home and its carriage house.

In addition to having their products in the Renewed American Home, GBP will be showcasing insulation products at its booth that meet market demands for energy efficiency, indoor air quality and sound control. Products include:

· ATS – ATS (Air Tite System) combines HandiFoam® closed-cell polyurethane foam and Guardian Fiberglass to create a state-of-the-art insulation system. The ½ inch layer of spray foam is applied inside the wall cavity prior to the installation of a fiberglass batt or AsureR® spray-on fiberglass insulation. The thermal performance of fiberglass insulation is improved by eliminating air infiltration. ATS is GREENGUARD® certified for Children & Schools.

· AsureR – The AsureR wall system is unique in that it combines a specially designed fiberglass insulation with a water-activated powdered adhesive. This is sprayed into the wall cavity forming a seamless blanket of insulation in sidewalls. Because the system creates a monolithic seal in all the sidewalls, it significantly reduces costly voides and air gaps. AsureR is GREENGUARD certified for Children & Schools. The products are free of formaldehyde as well.

· Perfect Fill – This system uses netting and white blowing wool in the wall, floor and ceiling cavities. Perfect Fill allows the entire cavity to be filled with energy-saving fiberglass insulation, creating a more complete barrier to heat and cold, as well as reducing noise transfer. Perfect Fill is GREENGUARD certified for Children & Schools. The products are free of formaldehyde as well.

· Fatt Batt - Designed to meet stricter energy codes and higher R-value recommendations by the Department of Energy, Fatt Batt has a themral resistance rating of R-49 to provide the highest R-value of any batt insulation on the market today. Available faced and unfaced, Fatt Batt allows builders, contractor and homeowners to reach R-49 without having to lay two separate batts on top of each other or add loose fill insulation on top of batts. Fatt Batt is 15 inches thick and installs in an easy, one-step application. Fatt Batt is GREENGUARD certified for Children & Schools.

· SolarGuard Reflective Insulation – SolarGuard employs patented technology to address all three models of heat loss/gain: radiation, conduction and convection. Approximately 75% of total heat transfer in a building occurs through radiation – SolarGuard can reflect up to 97% of radiant energy striking it. SolarGuard Reflective Insulation has a layer of fiberglass insulation sandwiched between two foil facings. Its many applications include underneath the roof deck, on kneewalls, on basement walls, and underneath fiberglass batts in the walls.

In addition to building products and insulation, Guardian is a leading worldwide manufacturer of float glass and fabricated glass products for the construction and automotive industries. Guardian’s world-class Science & Technology Center continues to push the envelope with glass innovations that also prove to be practical and affordable for its customers. One of the center’s areas of innovation is in high performance glass coatings for architectural glass customers. Guardian is developing a myriad of choices for customers, regardless of whether they live in a warm or cold climate, or require features such as durability, safety, ultraviolet protection, heat retention, reflection or solar transmission.

Specifically, Guardian will be showcasing:

· ClimaGuard 55/27 – An innovative low-E glass for residential windows that offers enhanced solar control, this solution also provides interior light quality and a nonreflective, neutral appearance for superior aesthetic qualities. ClimaGuard 55/27 provides a complete glass solution through a reduction in solar heat gain and the lowering of glass temperature during the cooling season. ClimaGuard 55/27 also offers the lowest available U-factor and warmer glass surfaces, thus providing increased energy efficiency and comfort during the heating season, as well.

· ClimaGuard SPF – Designed specifically for use in residential windows, ClimaGuard SPF block 99.9% of ultraviolet (UV) radiation without any visible change in day lighting, protecting valuable interior furnishings from fading. ClimaGuard SPF is the first window glass technology that delivers complete UV protection plus superior energy savings and the beauty of natural daylight. With ClimaGuard SPF, window glass looks the way glass should look – no bright colors, no dark tints and no shiny reflections.

· ShowerGuard – The first and only permanently protected shower glass, ShowerGuard is now available at more than 300 dealers across the country. Designed for residential and commercial use in show and bath enclosures, ShowerGuard glass is easier to clean than standard glass and maintains its original appearance. The surface of ShowerGuard is sealed through a patented ion beam process during the manufacture of the glass.
